After a successful, fifteen year career in property management, I decided to pursue the other side of the real estate profession, joining Audrey Edelman & Associates as an Associate Broker in 1998. My interest in residential real estate brokerage has been long standing, having emerged while working in administration at Michigan State University. I realize now that my interest in the process of buying and selling real estate originated with the purchase of a piece of land upon which my first house was built in East Lansing, Michigan.
I moved to Ithaca in late1978 , and fell in love with this community. After earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Design and Environmental Analysis, I left Ithaca to apply my new Cornell degree in a larger scene. |

| My first property management position was in Denver, followed by Chicago, and then to San Francisco, where I managed a commercial and multi-family real estate portfolio for Marcus & Millichap that extended across the Bay Area. After working for the Palo Alto based firm for five years, and surviving the earthquake of 1989, my thoughts turned to Ithaca and the many friends I still had here. When a position was offered to manage the real estate portfolio of a local development firm, I sold my house in Fremont and moved to Ithaca. Within days, I made a purchase offer on a house on West Hill, working with the best agent in Ithaca - Audrey Edelman - and began reacquainting myself with this fabulous place to live.
During my first year back in Ithaca I met the architect Robert O’Brien, a partner in HOLT Architects, and we were married in 1992. Today we live with our two standard poodles, in an incredible new house of Bob’s design, high on a 10-acre site overlooking the Six-Mile Creek valley. Our professions are also our avocations, and we share our interests in architecture and the environment. We greatly enjoy the wholesomeness of life in Ithaca, from Farmers’ Market produce in season to long walks in the magnificent countryside. Our travels take us often on autumn excursions to England or Ireland, where we find both tranquility and exhilaration in centuries of history. |

| I chose Ithaca, over what some may consider more exciting and glamorous locales, because of its people, its natural beauty, its array of intellectually and physically stimulating activity choices, and its utterly manageable life style. In this most dynamic of settings, I look forward to applying my energy, skills, and multi-faceted knowledge of real estate to your benefit in selling or buying. | ||
